The RSNA Research and Education (R&E) Foundation marks its 40th anniversary this month and is celebrating four decades of milestones, beginning with the initial $1 million donation made by RSNA establishing the Foundation in 1984.

To mark this special occasion, the Foundation is holding a Week of Giving beginning Saturday, Sept. 14, and culminating on Saturday, Sept. 21, the historic day the initial action to form the Fund was achieved.

Since its inception in 1984, the Foundation has awarded over $84 million in grant funding to deserving researchers and educators that help make a tangible difference in the future of medical imaging and patient care worldwide.

From the beginning, the Foundation has remained dedicated to the future of radiology by developing investigators and supporting lifelong research. Over the past 40 years, the Foundation has awarded more than 1,900 grants. For every dollar awarded by the RSNA R&E Foundation, recipients have received approximately $60 additional dollars in subsequent funding from other sources.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the support of our donors during the past four decades,” said Satoshi Minoshima, MD, PhD, chair of the R&E Foundation Board of Trustees. “As we celebrate this distinguished milestone, we look forward to the Foundation’s next 40 years. We’re committed to building upon this incredible legacy and continuing to make a positive impact.”
