Resident-Led Event Raises Cancer Awareness in Communities
Groups help educate patients on the value of cancer screening
Resident programs can raise awareness about the importance of cancer screening and educate patients in their own communities during the Communities Crushing Cancer (CCC) event taking place Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Communities Crushing Cancer (CCC) is a resident-led event developed by the Radiology Health Equity Coalition (RHEC). The event was designed to raise cancer awareness and increase cancer screening rates. Through the program, residents engage directly with patients and families to offer information about breast, lung and colorectal cancer screening.
Participating residency programs set up and staff cancer screening information tables at their home institutions to disseminate materials to patients throughout the day. The RHEC has developed a participant toolkit which provides the necessary resources including downloadable brochures that each program can print and distribute.
An informational video covers frequently asked questions for CCC 2024.
