Vin Gupta, MD

Vin Gupta, MD, is a tech visionary who operates at the heart of disruption to develop solutions to the most complex challenges in commerce, communication, health care, and society—now, and in the future. Close to two decades of experience as a renowned health policy expert and clinician have led Dr. Gupta to his current role as chief medical officer of Amazon Pharmacy, where he spearheads cutting-edge programs that are leading us into the interdependent futures of health care and technology. As a uniquely public-facing figure keeping the world in the know about what’s happening now and next, Dr. Gupta’s forward-looking insights inspire leaders and their organizations to embrace change, think outside the box to break new ground, and create new inroads to innovation and success.

Upon joining Amazon as principal scientist, Dr. Gupta soon found himself in the unexpected role of leading the tech juggernaut’s pandemic response and served in various health tech-oriented roles before becoming chief medical officer. In addition to his work overseeing Amazon’s foray into health care delivery, Dr. Gupta is a practicing pulmonologist and affiliate assistant professor at the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, as well as a medical analyst for NBC News and a contributor to the New York Times. Concurrently, he is a commissioned officer (O-4 Major) in the United States Air Force Medical Reserve Corps, where he serves as the officer-in-charge of the Critical Care Air Transport Capability at Joint-Base Lewis McChord.

In his distinguished career working at the forefront of health and tech, Dr. Gupta has advised some the world’s largest companies, including Apple, the National Football League and Major League Baseball. In addition to sitting on several boards and being term member for the Council on Foreign Relations, he has held research roles at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, World Bank, the Center for Global Health Engagement, and Harvard Global Health Institute. He has been recognized with several awards and honors, including being named as one of the 40 Under 40 National Leaders in Minority Health by the U.S. Congressional Black Caucus and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Gupta will address the role of technology in accelerating the transformation of health care, resulting in innovative new treatments and previously unimagined capabilities for managing our health and wellness. His unparalleled insights into current and future health care trends will provide perspective on how new advancements, technologies, and policies will affect radiology and bring clarity to what it will take to adapt.
