Trainees Encouraged to Apply for RSNA Journals Editorial Board Opportunities

Radiology, RSNA’s flagship research journal and Radiology: Imaging Cancer, RSNA’s online journal for state-of-the-art research and commentaries on cancer imaging and image-guided therapy, are now accepting applications for trainee editorial board members.

Applicants to either board should be RSNA members. RSNA provides free membership for physicians and scientists in training. Please submit your application to only one trainee board.

Radiology: In Training Editorial Board Members

Radiology is seeking applications from radiology residents and fellows for positions on the Radiology: In Training Editorial Board. The one-year term on the editorial board will begin on July 1, 2021. 

 During their one-year term, editorial board members will:

• Contribute to editing, reviewing and promoting imaging research.
• Participate in peer review of 2-6 Radiology manuscripts working with a mentor from the journal’s reviewer pool.
• Create and post social media content, including Tweetorials and In A Minute and author interview videos based on the Radiology journal articles.
• Participate in Radiology editorial board meetings during content review.
• Solicit and participate in peer review of Radiology articles such as Images in Radiology, Original Research, and Research Letters, as well as Radiology: In Training articles, such as Research in Practice and Perspectives.
• Participate in monthly videoconferences with the Radiology Editor, David Bluemke, MD, PhD, and Radiology: In Training Editor, Susanna I. Lee, MD, PhD.

Applicants must be in training in a residency, fellowship, graduate degree program or postdoctoral fellowship in radiology, nuclear medicine and the imaging sciences throughout their editorial board term. They should have strong critical-thinking skills, a mastery of written English and experience in scientific writing. They should also have a solid knowledge of research design and basic biostatistics. Applicants with diverse backgrounds including non-North American applications are encouraged.

• Copy of their CV, including a list of professional social media accounts
• Signed letter of support from the program director of department chair at which you will be working during the editorial term
• Link to a Tweetorial and/or an In A Minute video (1-2 minute video) created by you.  Content should be based on a Radiology journal publication

Radiology: Imaging Cancer Trainee Editorial Board Members

Radiology: Imaging Cancer is seeking applications from residents, fellows, graduate students, and post-doctoral researchers for its trainee editorial board. Terms on the editorial board will begin July 1, 2021. Terms are two years with an option for only a single year term.

During their two-year term, editorial board members will:

• Learn about peer review, research design, scientific editing, and promoting radiology research.
• Review up to 12 manuscripts per year.
• Contribute at least two research highlights to the online issue.
• Participate in content for podcasts, commentaries, and social media releases.
• Participate in the standard online review process for Radiology: Imaging Cancer and at the meeting of the full Editorial Board during the RSNA Annual Meeting.

Applicants must be in training in a relevant residency, fellowship, graduate degree program or postdoctoral research position throughout their term on the trainee editorial board. Trainees should have specific interests in cancer imaging and image-guided therapy, including diagnosis, treatment, technology and technology development, machine learning, health disparities, and policy. Applicants must have strong critical-thinking skills, mastery of written English, experience in scientific writing and enthusiasm for advancing research and patient care in cancer imaging and image-guided therapy. Applicants with diverse backgrounds including non-North American applications are encouraged.

• Statement from a faculty member who will serve as a mentor during your term on the trainee editorial board
