Radiologists Travel to Mexico Through RSNA IVP Program

Radiologists Edward Bluth, MD, and Vikram S. Dogra, MD, will begin a 10-day trip to Mexico on Tuesday as part of RSNA’s International Visiting Professor (IVP) Program. The program fosters international relations among radiology societies to assist with medical education in developing and newly developed nations. /p>

During the trip, Drs. Bluth and Dogra will lecture at the XV Annual Course of Ultrasound organized by the Mexican Society of Radiology and Imaging in Mexico City and visit several local hospitals and teaching institutions where they will share information about the latest advances in diagnostic and therapeutic radiology. In turn, the visiting professors will experience firsthand the obstacles faced by medical professionals in the host countries. /p>

“This program is important because it enables me to teach and train radiologists and residents in Mexico about ultrasound, enabling me to reach a wider audience and have a greater impact on the practice of radiology,” said Dr. Bluth, chairman emeritus, Department of Radiology at the Ochsner Health System in New Orleans. “Additionally, it enables me to learn about the practice of medicine in Mexico and to appreciate the similarities and differences in our types of practices. /p>

“As chairman of the American College of Radiology Human Resources Commission, I am very interested in the personal side of the practice of medicine, and this will help me gain greater insight on the practice of radiology in Mexico. I have been fortunate to have played a role in developing and expanding certain applications of ultrasound, and it is my pleasure to share this information with others,” Dr. Bluth added. /p>

Dr. Dogra is professor of diagnostic radiology, urology and biomedical engineering, associate chair of education and research and director of the Division of Ultrasound at the University of Rochester Medical Center, N.Y. /p>
