RadiologyInfo.org Draws Record Number of Visits, Launches New Section

RadiologyInfo.org drew a record 11,536,845 visits in 2015. The website, co-produced by RSNA and the American College of Radiology (ACR), helps consumers make more informed healthcare decisions by offering easy-to-understand descriptions of more than 200 imaging exams and treatments. These include the benefits versus risks of common procedures, what to expect during exams, how to prepare and more.

"We are excited that RadiologyInfo.org continues to broaden its reach," said Ramji Rajendran, M.D., Ph.D., co-chair of the RSNA-ACR Public Information Website Committee. "Thanks to the combined efforts of many radiology professionals, RSNA and ACR have created an important information resource that positively impacts thousands of lives each day."

The website has recently been expanded with the addition of a new section called "Radiology and You." The section offers information that can help patients better understand the overall radiologic experience and the role of radiologists in their medical care. Topics such as "Five Things Physicians and Patients Should Question" and "How to Read Your Radiology Report" are included to empower patients and help them become more active participants in their healthcare.

The new section is the latest in a series of enhancements that have been made in response to patient feedback obtained through focus groups and a usability study, according to Geoffrey D. Rubin, M.D., co-chair of the RSNA-ACR Public Information Website Committee.

"We redesigned the website last year in response to user feedback concerning how complex medical topics were presented," Dr. Rubin said. "This milestone of 11.5 million visits speaks to our success in making this information more accessible."

RadiologyInfo.org is available in English and Spanish. The award-winning site currently averages nearly 1 million visits per month.
