Emerging Issues Grant Recipients Discuss Health Equity Initiatives at RSNA 2024

In collaboration with the RSNA Health Equity Committee, the Foundation hosted a Discovery Theater Panel discussion during RSNA 2024. The session featured researchers whose groundbreaking work in health equity is being supported by the Foundation’s Emerging Issues grants. The event brought together a diverse group of scholars and community leaders to explore innovative approaches to addressing interventions and solutions to health disparities.

The panel was led by Anand Narayan, MD, PhD, RSNA Health Equity Committee member and Michael Gee, MD, PhD, R&E Foundation Board of Trustees member. The panel featured Emerging Issues grant recipients Farouk Dako, MD, MPH, University of Pennsylvania, Soterios Gyftopoulos, MD, MBA, NYU Langone, Christina LeBedis, MD, MS, Boston Medical Center, Bhavika Patel, MD, Mayo Clinic Arizona, and Gelareh Sadigh, MD, University of California, Irvine.

According to Dr. Narayan, the panelists held a lively discussion that highlighted how their research projects are advancing health equity research through innovative approaches. They provided concrete guidance for addressing complex health equity challenges through interdisciplinary collaborations. To ensure that the needs and concerns of communities most impacted by health disparities are heard, panelists shared valuable insights on developing community engagement and trust during every phase of the research process. Each researcher showcased how the Foundation’s support enabled them to apply innovative methods to tackle complex health equity questions across various radiology subspecialties in communities across the United States.

Grant Recipient Spotlight

“The opportunities provided by the RSNA R&E Foundation have been transformative for me, not just in funding my ideas but in fostering a mindset of giving back and building something meaningful. It has become more than just a professional support system; it feels like family. Attending the R&E Foundation Corporate Donor Reception at RSNA 2024 was such a wonderful experience. It was truly inspiring to meet incredible people like Dr. Satoshi Minoshima and Dr. Bonnie Joe and hear about their dedication to giving back. Seeing the new awardees and connecting with donors was a highlight of my RSNA experience. It's incredible to witness the generosity and enthusiasm that drive this community forward. I would be delighted to continue supporting the Foundation into the future however I can.”
