Apply for an R&E Foundation Grant

The R&E Foundation is committed to creating opportunities to aid in the development of a diverse and inclusive future workforce—bringing broad perspectives, celebrating differences and alternative viewpoints, and empowering members to their full potential. The Foundation encourages all interested applicants to apply for RSNA research and education grant funding.

The RSNA Research Scholar Grant is the Foundation’s premier career development grant designed to transition junior faculty to independent investigators. Two-year grant up to $200,000.

The RSNA Research Seed Grant provides seed money to test hypotheses and conduct pilot studies in preparation for major grant applications. One-year grant up to $60,000.

The Research Resident/Fellow Grant provides investigators a chance to explore powerful ideas and gain insight into specific investigation and practice research methods and techniques. One-two year grant-$50,000 resident/$75,000 fellow.

The RSNA Research Medical Student Grant exposes medical students to radiology research opportunities and encourages them to consider academic radiology as an option for their future. To attract the brightest young researchers to radiology, the R&E Foundation offers the underrepresented in medicine (UIM) funding opportunity for medical students who identify as minorities underrepresented in medicine. Grant of $3,000, matched by the sponsoring department.

The R&E Foundation also has several opportunities available for aspiring radiology educators.

The Derek Harwood-Nash International Education Scholar Grant is open to both international and domestic applicants for projects covering any area of radiologic education with an international scope. One-year grant up to $75,000.

The RSNA/AAR/APDR/SCARD Radiology Education Research Development Grant encourages innovation and improvement in health sciences education by providing research opportunities to individuals in pursuit of advancing the science of radiology education. International applicants may apply. One-year grant up to $25,000.

The RSNA Education Project Award is offered to recognize and highlight the impact of educators by providing supplemental funding for new or ongoing education projects. Up to $20,000 per award recipient.
