• MIRC Teaching File System: Create rich cases quickly and easily

    May 01, 2012

Radiologists are committed to lifelong learning, which includes collecting interesting cases for future reference and to share with peers. RSNA's Teaching File System (TFS), part of the Medical Imaging Resource Center (MIRC), lets you create and share cases.

    • Cases created using TFS can be as simple or as detailed as you like. Formatting of cases is flexible enough to accommodate a quick "note to self" or an interactive conference. The author decides which cases to share—and with whom.
    • TFS utilities make building and managing a personal or departmental teaching file easier than ever. Upload images to your personal file cabinet, automatically remove protected health information, even import existing teaching files in a single operation. TFS is a powerful toolset designed to handle critical tasks.
    • The software is free and easy to install. Just go to the RSNA MIRC site and click "Download Software." The site includes dozens of freely accessible sample cases, created and published using TFS.

MIRC® Clinical Trials Processor: Manage and share research data conveniently and securely

You don't need a team of IT experts to confidently participate in image-based clinical trials. RSNA's Clinical Trials Processor (CTP) lets you organize and anonymize imaging research data sets and share them across multisite trials. It handles projects of any size with control and simplicity.

    • Automatically remove protected health information from Dicom objects for use in research. Use CTP to de-identify data so it's ready to be published. You can send data across institutions and be assured that you'll comply with HIPAA requirements for pro-tecting patient information.
    • Configure CTP to handle the image data management of nearly any clinical trial. Trial administrators can use CTP to transfer and analyze data in nearly every configuration imaginable. It saves time and dramatically minimizes the errors associated with arranging data "by hand."
    • It's the tool of choice multisite imaging clinical trials. Many leading research institutions use CTP to acquire and distribute research data for multisite imaging clinical trials. It's also used by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for receiving and storing images for the National Biomedical Image Archive (NBIA).
    • Take advantage of free downloads and strong user support. The CTP software is downloadable via the RSNA MIRC site. Detailed instructions for installing, maintaining and using it are available on the MIRC Wiki along with links to a discussion board for developers and users.
