TEB involvement opportunities

Invest in the future of radiology research and education by volunteering for a TEB position.

As a TEB member, you’ll create educational content and learn about editing, reviewing and promoting articles for RSNA’s premier peer-reviewed journals. You’ll also participate in editorial board meetings, providing you with opportunities to network with peers and leaders alike.

Application process 

  • Applicants must apply to their first-choice trainee board only. Applications sent to multiple trainee boards will not be accepted.
  • During the application process, you will be able to select your preferences for other opportunities.
  • All candidates will be notified whether their application has been accepted or declined in early June.
  • All Trainee Editorial Board terms begin July 1.

Term One year
Qualifications

Residency, fellowship, graduate degree program or postdoctoral fellowship in:

  • Radiology
  • Nuclear medicine
  • Imaging sciences

Applicants should have strong critical-thinking skills, a mastery of written English, experience in scientific writing and a solid knowledge of research design and basic biostatistics. An established social media presence is encouraged.

The Radiology: In Training term of service is one year. After completion of the first year, eligible trainees will be invited to serve for a second year.

Submission requirements
  • Current CV, including a list of professional social media accounts
  • Link to a Tweetorial and/or In A Minute video (one to two minute video) created by you. Content should be based on a Radiology journal publication. For current examples, review the Radiology: In Training page.
  • Statement of interest, including your qualifications and how this opportunity may benefit your career (two to three paragraphs)
  • Signed letter of support from the program director or from the chair of the department where the applicant will be working during the editorial term    
Trainee board activities
  • Mentored peer review (four or more Radiology manuscripts). Trainee members will be paired to work one-on-one with peer-review mentors.
  • Independent peer review (two to three Radiology: In Training manuscripts)
  • Create social media content based on Radiology publications (four to five pieces of content)
    • Tweetorials
    • In A Minute videos
  • Periodically join Radiology editorial board weekly meetings to help select manuscripts for publication 
  • Solicit and provide peer review of Radiology articles such as:
    • Images in Radiology
    • Original Research
    • Research Letters
    • Radiology: In Training Research in Practice and Radiology: In Training Perspectives
  • Participate in monthly trainee board meetings with Radiology and Radiology: In Training editors

Term One year
Qualifications

Residents or fellows at any level of training in:

  • Diagnostic radiology
  • Interventional radiology
  • Radiation oncology
  • Nuclear medicine

Medical students, graduate/post-doctoral students, international trainees and others will also be considered.

  • Statement of interest, including your qualifications and how this opportunity may benefit your career (two to three paragraphs)
  • An idea for a trainee-focused RG TEAM initiative, promotion, content organization or trainee-authored editorials that you can help develop with the RG TEAM. Submit your proposal as a PDF attachment.
Trainee board activities
  • Develop projects to promote and organize RadioGraphics content
  • Author trainee-focused editorials, and Cases from the Cooky Jar
  • Participate in regular video conferences with the RadioGraphics editor and RG TEAM editors
  • Trainees will additionally be offered the opportunity to participate in abstract panel reviews at the RSNA annual meeting.
Radiology: Artificial Intelligence TEB
Radiology: Artificial Intelligence TEB
Term Two years
Qualifications

Relevant residency, fellowship, graduate degree program or postdoctoral fellowship in one or more of these eligible medical disciplines:

  • Diagnostic radiology
  • Interventional radiology
  • Nuclear medicine
  • Radiation oncology

Or in an AI-related scientific discipline, such as:

  • Medical physics
  • Biomedical informatics
  • Biomedical engineering
  • Computer science
Submission requirements
  • Current CV
  • Statement of interest, including your qualifications and how this opportunity may benefit your career (two to three paragraphs)
  • Copy of one publication representative of your work
Trainee board activities
  • Learn about peer review, biostatistics, research design and journalistic ethics
  • Review up to 12 manuscripts per year
  • Contribute to Radiology: Artificial Intelligence editorial content, editor’s blog, and/or social media
  • Participate in monthly TEB teleconferences
  • Periodically join the editor and deputy editors’ weekly teleconference to help select manuscripts for publication
  • Attend the journal’s Editorial Board meeting during the RSNA annual meeting
Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging TEB
Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging TEB
Term One year
Qualifications Residents, fellows, masters/PhD students and post-doctoral fellows in:
  • Radiology
  • Cardiology
  • Nuclear medicine
  • Imaging sciences
Submission requirements
  • Current CV
  • Statement of interest indicating your qualifications and background (two to three paragraphs)
  • Link to a Tweetorial or online educational video you created
  • Copy of one publication representative of your work
  • Recommendation letter from your program director indicating proficiency in the training program and background/interest relative to the Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging TEB
Trainee board activities
  • Edit, review and promote imaging research
  • Mentored peer review (expectation: up to four reviews per year)
  • Create social media content (Tweetorials, author interview videos or podcasts)
  • Create journal content relevant to trainees (opinion piece on trainee experience in research, clinical practice, ethics or health policy)
  • Participate in monthly TEB meetings
Radiology: Imaging Cancer TEB
Radiology: Imaging Cancer TEB
Term One or two years
Qualifications

Relevant residency, fellowship, graduate degree program or postdoctoral research position.

Trainees should have specific interests in:

  • Cancer imaging and image-guided therapy, including:
    • Diagnosis
    • Treatment
    • Technology and technology development
    • Machine learning
    • Health disparities
    • Policy

  • Statement of interest (two to three paragraphs)
  • Copy of one publication or abstract representative of your work
  • Statement from a faculty member who will serve as a mentor during your term on the TEB
Trainee board activities
  • Learn about peer review, research design, scientific editing and promoting radiology research.

  • Participate in podcasts, social media content creation, commentary
  • Author two or more research highlights
  • Participate in weekly Radiology: Imaging Cancer editorial board meetings
